The number of Massachusetts state workers making six-figure salaries jumped 12 percent last year to nearly 7,700 employees, according to a Boston Herald review.
The majority of those work for the University of Massachusetts with almost 200 of its employees making anywhere from $200,000 a year to more than $700,000.
Other state employees earning six-figure salaries include: nurses, state troopers, office workers, and prison guards.
The review comes as Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick is pushing for nearly $2 billion in tax and fee hikes amid a sputtering economy and climbing jobless rate.
