GARDNER — A local man was arrested after the 70-year-old owner of a home he is accused of breaking into caught him, beat him into submission and held him until police arrived.
Police said Timothy Adams, 24, of 254 Waterford St. was arrested Saturday and charged with breaking and entering in the nighttime to commit a felony and destruction of property. He was arraigned Tuesday in Gardner District Court and was released on personal recognizance to appear June 26 for a pretrial hearing.
Mr. Adams was arrested by police who went to 71 Waterford St. after the owner called to report that his house had been broken into. When police arrived, they found homeowner standing over Mr. Adams.
